This year we'll do a list of suggestions for tech related gifts. Obviously, you can choose your own devices but the categories remain. Let's get the ball rolling, shall we?
TABLETS
We'll showcase at least two for you which would be the Apple iPad Air and the Google Nexus 7.
It weighs a mere pound and feels so compact in your hand you'll swear it's a mini. Despite its shockingly sleek body, the iPad Air packs the same big and sharp 9.7-inch Retina display as its predecessor. Apple also includes its new 64-bit A7 chip for faster performance — which makes for an overall better experience, whether you're playing games or editing video in the new iMovie. It gets better. In our tests, the Air lasted nearly 12 hours on a charge. Add in more than 475,000 apps, and it's easy to see why the iPad Air is the ultimate tablet.
It's easy to hold in one hand or two, it's affordably priced with durable build quality. Fast performance with its Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. Another thing that we all like is strong battery life. There are two variants, the WiFi variant and the 4G LTE version. For the tablet gamers, Real Racing 3 looks very impressive with the smooth frame rates and sharp graphics. Thanks to its stellar performance and affordable price, the Nexus 7 is the Android tablet to get.
GAMING CONSOLES
They pack 10 times the processing power with the ability to deliver hyper-realistic graphics. Both include updated motion-sensing cameras and features that place users in some games. And they’re no slouches in delivering Web streaming services such as Netflix, Redbox Instant by Verizon and Amazon Instant Video. Frankly, after waiting this long for new consoles, what's not to like?
STREAMING DEVICES
Google's Chromecast has the low cost, and Apple TV has the integration with the vast iTunes ecosystem, but for the sheer range of programming choices, nobody beats Roku. It boasts more than 1,000 entertainment channels, full 1080p support and a microSD slot for viewing your pictures and other content. Oh, and the remote control -- which includes a headphone jack for watching in bed without disturbing a sleeping partner -- also doubles as a motion-sensitive game controller for Angry Birds and other titles.
SMART WATCHES
Now for this there are two options:
The Pebble SmartWatch, now with this it doesn't have all the fancy smancy UI of the Galaxy Gear nor nearly as much flaws but what it will do for you is let you read emails and texts, see incoming calls, run some apps and tell time. However for this to work, it will need to be accompanied by a smart phone. Now if you want something fancier try this next option.
The Sony SmartWatch 2. Sony does have a very pretty UI, the battery is fantastic (4 days on a full charge) as opposed to Samsung's 1 day. Standard microUSB input, so you can just plug it in, rather than having to walk around with a cradle to charge it. There are tons of apps for the SmartWatch 2 and it's steadily growing. Sometimes less is better as opposed to the Galaxy Gear, so you don't need voice controls nor camera - Why would you want to contort your arm, stick out your elbow and tap your watch to take a fuzzy, grainy photo, or you could take your smartphone out of your pocket and take a high-quality photo? It's also water resistant and can have interchangeable straps.
EXTERNAL STORAGE
Dropbox, Google Drive and other cloud storage services are all the rage, but they'll cost you after reaching free limits of less than 30 GB. The WD My Cloud 3TB gives you more bang for the buck and more control over storing and accessing movies, music, photos and other content. An accompanying application that installs on Mac and Windows computers, tablets and smartphones can tunnel into your home network to access files on the go.
SMART PHONES
LG G2 with a 5-inch screen barrier with a bright 5.2-inch, 1080p IPS screen and Gorilla Glass 2, LG is not messing about. These are the guys behind Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5. Paired with a high pixel-count camera sensor (13MP) and an optical image stablizer, it takes crispier shots with less blur and noise. Another good thing is the battery life is awesome.
Next contender for anyone looking to break into the smart phone market at a cheap price:
The Moto G has a 4.5-inch 720p display, along with a Snapdragon 400 processor which is a quad-core 1.2GHz variant. It’s also got a 5MP camera and a 1.3MP front facing camera. It’s packing a 2070mAh battery inside, which gives it plenty of battery life. It’s also running on Android 4.3, and it’s nearly stock Android. Motorola also said that it would receive KitKat around January of 2014. It's at an affordable price as well, don't believe us check them out
here and here .
SMART TVs
Ready to splurge?
The Sony Bravia XBR-65X850A is a 4K oriented smart TV, although there aren't many 4K content right now, anyone looking to invest on the newest technology here's a TV for you. It's also a 3D TV which comes with 4 Sony's Active 3D glasses. It supports up to 5.1 audio channel, built in Wi-Fi, one-touch screen mirroring with Miracast™ enabled smartphones and free downloadable apps for iOS & Android and many more features.
Onto the other smart TV
This is the Samsung S9C Series OLED TV. You've never seen a TV like this. Samsung's first OLED boasts best-in-class colors and contrast while also offering blur-free motion. That means the S9C series is perfect for anything you might want to watch, whether it's "Man of Steel" or your favorite football game. The curved design is fantastic, too, which makes the experience more immersive. Bonus: With a special pair of glasses, two people can watch different shows in HD at the same time.
As usual if you have your own suggestions, feel free to leave them here.
