Jailbreaking, Rooting, Unlocking... What's the big deal?

Soooooo, you got a new smartphone and want to unleash its true potential the manufacturers don't want you to know about.

Well there's jailbreaking (iOS) and rooting (Android)....

Unlocking is a simple case of just allowing your phone to be able to operate on different networks and not being tied to one.

Let's talk about 1. Jailbreaking and 2. Rooting.

Jailbreaking is the process of removing the limitations on Apple devices running the iOS operating system through the use of software and hardware exploits.

Benefits you ask? I'll give you 5 because there's loads of benefits.

1.  Tethering for free!

2.  FaceTime over 3G!

3.  Customize your icons and deck out with themes.

4.  Install apps that would have never passed the Apple scrutiny to appear in the official App Store.

5.  Create widgets to make it easier to access settings, like toggling WiFi

Rooting is the process allowing users of smartphonestablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem.

Once again, I'll give you 5 as there's tons of benefits as well.

1.  Back Up and restore the whole system

2.  Ramp up the power.

3.  Remove the bloatware.

4.  Improve battery life.

5.  The ability to fully customize just about every graphic on your device and customized themes.
