KeePass - The Password Safe

What is KeePass?

Today you need to remember many passwords. You need a password for the Windows network logon, your e-mail account, your website's FTP password, online passwords (like website member account), etc. etc. etc. The list is endless. Also, you should use different passwords for each account. Because if you use only one password everywhere and someone gets this password you have a problem... A serious problem. The thief would have access to your e-mail account, website, etc. Unimaginable.

One of the best things about Keepass - it's FREEE (lol) and very easy to use.  You store your passwords within one single databased locked with ONE master password or keyfile.  Only one master password or keyfile is needed to unlock it and it's also encryted using the best and most secure algorithms.

The features or selling points for this lovely piece of software you ask, is right here:

  • Strong security as was mentioned with very secure algorithms.  I won't go into full details of the algorithms to confuse or bore you.
  • Multiple User keys
  • Portable, no installation required although they are installers available online, essentially you can use Keepass on an USB drive and it can run on Windows that way also.
  • The password list can be exported to either formats such as TXT, HTML, XML and CSV.
  • Also it has a very powerful built in password generator.
  • The best one to me from the selling points : the database is transferable, so if your computer needs to be reinstalled or simply having a new computer, you can transfer the database.  You will still need to know the master password or have the keyfile for it to be unlocked.
They are many more features but the above should be enough for you.
